Frequently Asked Questions: 


  1. Who can volunteer?
    1. Any family member 18 years of age, or older. No exceptions. 
  2. Can I buy out my family’s volunteer hours? 

    1. You have the option to buy out your volunteer hours if you choose. You must submit your buyout payment with your registration form.  You will be submitting your payment along with your registration payments during the registration process.  If you require to pay via a check, you must notify Volunteer Coordinator and provide a check prior to your player(s) being allowed to skate​
  3. What is the cost of the buyout?
    1. For the 2023-2024 season, buyout amount is $600.
  4. What if we don’t fulfill all of our family’s volunteer hours?
    1. You will be billed $600 if all 10 hours are not fulfilled by the end of the regular season. You are responsible for your family’s hour balance. 
  5. What if my family works more than the required hours; can we carry them over to next season?
    1. Hours cannot be carried over. There are more hours needed to have volunteers work than the number of hours required by all families in our association.
  6. What if I have to cancel time I signed up to volunteer?
    1. You can cancel your selected hours via the Dibs tool as long it is within the allocated cancellation period noted on each item (3 days). 
    2. If you need to cancel after the allocated cancellation period, you must contact the Volunteer Coordinator to remove the hours from your family account. In these situations, you cannot use the dibs system.  Please note that you must give the Volunteer Coordinator advance notice. If the position needs to be filled by the Volunteer Coordinator you may be charged a $50 late cancellation fee. 

HARDSHIP POLICY

Volunteer hours cannot be shared or transferred from one family to another without the ERYHA board approval. This request is to be brought to the attention of the board at a monthly board meeting.

THE GOAL OF THE VOLUNTEER POLICY IS TO DISTRIBUTE THE WORKLOAD AMONG ALL THE ELK RIVER YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION FAMILIES.
